Additional Information on Eligibility: *Organization Limit: Proposals may only be submitted by the following: -For-profit organizations: U.S. commercial organizations, especially small businesses with strong capabilities in scientific or engineering research or education. *PI Limit:The primary employment of the Principal Investigator (PI) must be with the small business concern at the time of the award. A PI must spend a minimum of one calendar month on an SBIR Phase I project.
Description: The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program stimulates technological innovation in the private sector by strengthening the role of small business concerns in meeting Federal research and development needs, increasing the commercial application of federally supported research results, and fostering and encouraging participation by socially and economically disadvantaged and women-owned small businesses.
